The town of Schwarzenbach is a wonderful place for relaxation and recreation. Its location between the Frankenwald forest and the Fichtelgebirge mountains makes it an ideal starting point for walks or bicycle rides. A mountain bike network even starts in Schwarzenbach. Cyclists can choose the track along the Saale river leading to the Untreusee lake (from lake to lake) or a longer route lasting several days. Excellent cycle routes of all grades are readily available in the Schwarzenbach area.
Walkers can enjoy a long tour around the Förmitztalsperre (reservoir). In summer, this body of water is ideal for swimming, diving, surfing and angling. A detour to the village of Hallerstein is also worthwhile. The village has its own circular route starting at the “Hallersteiner Haisla” inn. There are also excellent winter sports facilities on Ochsenkopf and Kornberg mountain in the vicinity of Schwarzenbach.
